EMBRACING ONE HUMANITY
If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
The world today is very much different from how it used to be centuries back. Technology has paved way to the interconnectedness and interdependence of what is no longer a vast world.
Still, however interconnected the world may be, it is still in many ways torn, heterogeneous, and divided. However interdependent, the world remains unequal, unsustainable, and unstable.
More than half of the world population still lives on less than $2 a day.
There is, then, the need to create conversations; even when many do not want to listen.
There is, then, the need to teach what is happening; even when many do not want to understand.
There is, then, the need to act to counter these concerns; even when many do not want to support.
The capacity of the youth to bring about change is indispensible. It is the task of the youth today to remove the divides and instabilities from the past. It is after this major leap that we can truly realize our being one, our being interconnected, and our being interdependent.
In the 9th Asian Youth Forum, our goal is not merely to gather, but to move out and spread the message across.
Because there is a need, in many ways, to learn embracing one humanity. After all, when everything is through, we will still live in the same Earth and we still look at the same sun.
